Alpine Feldstudien
Die Alpen stehen vor unserer (österreichischen) Haustür. Wir erwandern sie, bewohnen sie kurz- oder langfristig, bewirtschaften sie, erschließen sie ... wir nehmen die Alpen in Besitz.
Der Austausch zwischen Mensch und Alpen basiert nicht nur auf diesem direkten Kontakt, sondern vor allem auch auf Sehnsucht und Imagination. Wir bestaunen sie, bebildern sie, wir kaufen und verkaufen sie, wir geben ihnen ein Image ... wir erträumen uns die Alpen.
Das Besitzen und das Erträumen der Alpen sind die beiden Eckpfeiler eines komplexen Austauschprozesses zwischen Mensch und Alpen, der zur soziokulturellen Konstruktion der Alpen führt.
Die Transformation der Alpen von einem geologischen Bergmassiv in einen Projektions- und Illusionsraum erzeugt sichtbaren und unsichtbare Spuren: Artefakte und Symbole, Denkweisen und Einstellungen. Dies sind die Bausteine, die den Projektion- und Illusionsraum, das soziokulturelle Konstrukt Alpen entstehen lassen.
Das Projekt Alpine Feldstudien gliedert sich in eine stetig wachsende Zahl an Teilprojekten, die jeweils spezifische Einzelaspekte des soziokulturellen Konstrukts der Alpen aufgreifen und bearbeiten.
Alpine Field Studies
In Austria, the Alps start right at the doorsteps of our homes. We live in them, we climb them, we administer and farm them, we make them accessible and develop them ... in short, we take possession of them.
The exchange between man and the Alps is on one hand based on this direct contact, on the other hand nurtured by yearning and imagination. We marvel them, we illustrate them, we buy and sell them ... in short, we dream them up.
The possessing and the dreaming up of the Alps are the two key cornerstones of a complex exchange process between man and the Alps that results in the sociocultural phenomenon of the Alps.
The transformation of the Alps from a geological massif into a space for illusion and projection of desires leaves visible and invisible traces: artefacts and symbols, ways of thinking and attitudes. These are the building blocks that make up the sociocultural construct of the Alps.
The art project Field Studies of the Alps consist of an ever-growing number of component projects taking up and dealing with specific individual aspects of the construct of the Alps.
