Light for the World

Extensive Eye Care in rural Africa

The NGO Light for the World believes in a world where people with eye conditions and disabilities can fully exercise their rights to health, education, work, and protection in emergencies.

Light for the World ensures that as many eye diseases as possible can be treated by

  • promoting eye health care and strengthening the health system,

  • training local experts, ophthalmologists, nurses and opticians so that they can detect eye diseases at an early stage,

  • ensuring access to eye health, especially for people in rural areas, those who cannot afford the services, women, people with disabilities and children,

  • providing technical aids to enable the treatment of eye disease and

  • raising awareness of eye health and pave the way for new guidelines and laws.
